Medieval People
There were five main groups of people in the Medieval Times. They were nobles, knights, clergy, tradesmen, and peasants. Here is some information about them.
Nobles-
-Lived lives of luxury and wore fancy clothes
-Had flavorful meals made by servants
-Children were sent off to castles at about 7 to become knights, ladies, or clergy members
Knight-
-Boys arrived at castles to become knights with little or, usually, no training.
-Chivalry was the rules and beliefs a knight had to follow.
-A knight was chivalrous when he…
-Lived to serve his king and country
-Avoided lying, cheating or torture
-Believed in justice for all
-Respected women
Clergy-
-Four main groups that included nuns, monks, bishops, and priests.
-One would usually live on the manor for religious purposes
Tradesmen-
-Had more freedom and rights than the peasants did but not very much more
-Could own their own shops and make money for themselves.
-Had to have specialized training for that particular craft.
Peasants-
-Extremely poor and didn’t have any luxuries or rights
-Lived in shacks and worked for the nobles on their manors for little, or usually, no pay.
-Very muted colors worn because they weren’t allowed to wear the same colors as the nobles.
